Exhibition Tour ERIKO HORIKI – Prayers through Washi

Exhibition Tour ERIKO HORIKI – Prayers through Washi
Kanagawa, Osaka, Yamaguchi 2007 ~ 2009

In the “Space for Prayers for Life,” a 30-meter washi light wall and an enormous spiral set in the ceiling and expressing eternity enclose a symbolic cocoon-shaped object. Installations were made in five different themed rooms, one of which was a “Space of Reverence for Nature” incorporating the Gigakumen masks used in the Hamanako Flower Expo (Hamamatsu City), and arranging washi with images of a lake and forest. The aim was to give visitors a bodily experience and a hint of a largescale washi environment; it was not an exhibition simply displaying objects made of washi.
