Hotel Shikisai Ichiriki (1994)

Fukushima, Japan

Maple frameworks spoked like a wheel were mounted atop zelkova columns and covered with washi. A circular framework of maple atop a zelkova column is covered with washi. The washi becomes transparent when struck by the natural light from above, and it produces beautiful contrasts at dawn and at dusk.
