Cafe Cube, Hosomi Museum (1997)
Kyoto, Japan

This cafe has a continuous large door. The washi was given an irregular shape so that the impression of the work when viewed from outside the door and from inside the cafe is interestingly different.

<Tapestry>

The washi has cotton yarns embedded in it and is irregularly shaped to prevent warping, which is a common occurrence. The surface area was purposely made small so that breezes would pass over it smoothly without making it sway, and it was designed to avoid a feeling of oppression from above. Title: "Nitten Gatten" (Sun in Heaven, Moon in Heaven).
