| "JAPAN EXPO 2000 Hannover Lantern car Firefly"(Hannover, Germany) 2000 |
|
We built a three-dimensional electric car out of washi, based
on the concept
of a "car friendly to both humans and nature" conceived by the
copperplate
print artist Yoko Yamamoto.
We exhibited it at the Japan booth in Hannover, Germany before exhibiting
it at the Aichi Prefecture Exposition to be held in 2005 on the theme of
"The Wisdom of Nature." |
|
|
The car is made of washi both inside and out, and can carry two people at a
speed of up to 125km/h. We named it the Firefly because of the fact that
it travels along quietly illuminated from the inside. Our intention was
to add modern techniques to traditional washi, and blend that with a very
innovative electric car.
